Here is a collection of photos of three longdog busts based loosely on the old phrenology heads of the victorians. The sculptures are brush decorated in soot black pigment, high in cobalt oxide, glazed over with a stoneware zinc glaze and fired to 1260º.

These three have all found homes now, but I am happy to discuss a possible commission. Due to the nature of the brushwork it is impossible to paint on sculptures of very fluffy dogs. Wavy coats like spaniels and flat coated retrievers are generally ok though. Smooth coated breeds like whippets are of course fine.

The commissioned piece will be a bust of your dog, decorated all over with it's life, it's dreams and whatever makes it happy and tick. The owner and family can be accommodated within the design, it's all open for discussion.
